How Pricing Works

A guide to fair pricing for second-hand badminton equipment.

Our pricing philosophy

We believe in fair, transparent pricing. Sellers are encouraged to research market values and price honestly. Buyers should feel confident they're getting a fair deal.

How to price your racket

The resale value of a badminton racket depends on several factors: the original RRP, current condition, age, whether it's strung, and market demand. Here's a general guide:

ConditionDescriptionTypical % of RRP
Like NewUsed 1-3 times, no marks, with original packaging70-85%
ExcellentLight use (1-3 months), minimal cosmetic wear55-70%
GoodRegular use (3-12 months), some scratches, plays well35-55%
FairHeavy use, visible wear, may need restringing20-35%
PoorCosmetic damage, chips, needs work10-20%

Where to check market prices

Before listing, check what similar items have actually sold for (not just asking prices). Good sources include eBay sold listings (filter by "Sold items"), Facebook Marketplace, and Gumtree. This gives you a realistic market range.

Market price ranges on listings

Listings on our marketplace may show a "Market" price range. This is based on recent sold prices from external platforms and is provided as a reference only. It is not a valuation or guarantee — the actual fair price depends on the specific item's condition, included accessories, and local demand.

Tips for sellers

Take clear photos in good lighting. Be honest about condition — buyers appreciate transparency and it builds your reputation. Include the string type and tension if the racket is currently strung. Mention if you have the original cover or box.

Tips for buyers

Always check the frame for hairline cracks by running your fingernail along the top. Ask about the racket's age and how often it was used. If possible, inspect in person before paying. For high-value rackets, ask the seller to verify authenticity with the hologram sticker.

Shuttlecock pricing

Feather shuttlecocks (tournament grade like Yonex AS30 or AS50) typically sell for £12–£18 per tube new. Nylon/plastic shuttles (Mavis 350, 500) go for £8–£14. Unopened tubes hold their value well.

Shoe pricing

Court shoes depreciate faster than rackets because they wear with use. Barely-worn shoes (1-2 sessions) can fetch 50-60% of RRP. Regularly worn shoes are typically worth 20-35% at best. Always be upfront about sole wear.
