I have been playing for about 8 months and would love to try a tournament but I am worried about being completely out of my depth. Are there any beginner friendly or restricted level tournaments in the UK?

Loads! Look for events graded as Restricted C or Restricted D level. These are specifically for developing players. Your county association website should list them. Also look for club open days which often have fun tournament formats.

Many clubs run internal leagues which are great for getting tournament experience in a friendly environment. I would start there before entering external events. The nerves are real even for experienced players!

Everyone starts somewhere. My first tournament I lost 21-3 in the first game. Now I play county level. Just get out there and enjoy it!
