Just started playing at my local leisure centre and absolutely loving it! Currently borrowing a racket from the club but want to get my own. Budget is about 30-50 quid. Any recommendations for a complete beginner?

At that budget the Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed is brilliant. Light, forgiving, and proper Yonex quality. Around 35 quid. Avoid the really cheap rackets from Amazon as they are usually terrible quality and can actually cause arm injuries.

As a coach I always recommend the Yonex Muscle Power series for beginners. The sweet spot is bigger so you get more consistent shots while you are learning. Do not overspend until you know you are committed to the sport.

I started with a Carlton Aeroblade and it served me well for the first year. You can find them for about 25 quid. Save the rest for decent shoes - footwork is more important than racket choice at this stage!
