As a stringer this is the question I get asked most. Here is my take: BG65: The reliable all-rounder. Good durability, decent repulsion, suits most players. If you do not know what string you want, this is the safe choice. Lasts ages. BG80: More power and a sharper feel. Better repulsion but breaks faster. Suited to players who want maximum performance and do not mind restringing more often. My recommendation: intermediates start with BG65 at 24-25lbs. Once you know your game, try BG80 at 25-27lbs. Happy to answer any string questions!

I switched from BG65 to BG80 last year and the difference in power was noticeable immediately. But Ray is right about durability - I go through strings about twice as fast now.

At my age I have gone back to BG65 for the durability. Used to play BG80 at 28lbs in my county days. Now I am on BG65 at 24lbs and my arm thanks me for it.

What about Aerobite for doubles? My coach mentioned it is good for net play and drives.

Aerobite is a hybrid string - different gauge on mains and crosses. Gives you more spin and control. Brilliant for doubles players who play a lot at the net. Only downside is it is more expensive to string because you need two reels.
