Realised I barely warm up before playing and wondering if I am risking injury. What does everyone do before hitting?

Please warm up! As a coach I see so many injuries that could have been prevented.
My recommended routine (10 mins):
- 2 mins light jogging or skipping
- Dynamic stretches: leg swings, arm circles, lunges with rotation
- Shadow footwork: 6 corners drill at medium pace
- Gentle rallying for 3-4 mins, gradually increasing pace
Never do static stretches before playing. Save those for after.

At my age the warm-up is the most important part! I add rotator cuff exercises with a resistance band. Shoulder injuries are incredibly common in badminton and prevention is better than cure.

I always do wrist rotations too. As a stringer I see loads of wrist injuries from people who go straight into full power smashes without warming up the joint.
