Been playing with the Astrox 88D Pro for about 6 weeks now, thought I'd share my thoughts.\n\n**Specs:** 4U (83g), strung with BG80 at 26 lbs\n\n**First impressions:** Head-heavy but not as extreme as the old 88D. The new Rotational Generator System does make it feel faster through the swing.\n\n**Smash:** This is where it shines. The weight distribution is perfect for generating steep, powerful smashes. My hardest smashes are definitely with this racket.\n\n**Defence:** Decent but not its strength. If you're primarily a defensive player, look elsewhere. The head weight makes fast drive exchanges a bit tiring.\n\n**Net play:** Surprisingly good for a head-heavy racket. The slim shaft helps with quick net kills.\n\n**Durability:** No issues so far. Frame feels solid.\n\n**Who's it for?** Aggressive doubles rear court players. If you love smashing from the back, this is your racket.\n\n**Who should avoid it?** Pure singles players who need all-round agility, or beginners (too unforgiving).\n\n**Rating: 8.5/10**\n\nWorth the price? At full RRP, it's steep. But if you can find it on sale or second-hand, absolutely.

Great review! I've been eyeing this one up. How does it compare to the Astrox 99 if you've tried both? I play rear court in doubles mostly so this sounds right up my alley.

The 99 is slightly stiffer and more head-heavy than the 88D Pro. If you want maximum smash power and don't mind the extra weight, go 99. If you want a touch more manoeuvrability at the net (which you need in doubles), the 88D Pro is the better choice imo. I'd recommend trying both if you can borrow one first!
