I would usually choose comfort and forgiveness first, then use string and tension to fine-tune the feel. A demanding racket too early can slow improvement down.

Another sign is when touch shots do not actually improve but power and forgiveness both get worse. That usually means the trade-off is not paying you back.

Current setup: 4U even-balance racket with BG80 at 24lbs. Works well for doubles, but I still prefer slightly softer strings if I know I will be playing a long club night.
